Cleveland Browns acquire offensive tackle Cam Robinson from the Houston Texans

#74 CAM ROBINSON JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS VS NEW ORLEANS SAINTS WEEK 7 OCTOBER 19^ 2023 CAESARS SUPERDOME NEW ORLEANS LOUISIANA

The Cleveland Browns are acquiring Houston Texans offensive tackle Cam Robinson in exchange for a 2027 late-round draft pick swap, ESPN’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported on Monday. The Browns lost offensive tackle Dawand Jones this year to a season-ending knee injury on Sept. 22, after Cleveland beat the Green Bay Packers 13-10.

Robinson, 29, is in his ninth NFL season, starting in Jacksonville after the Jaguars selected the ex-Alabama star with the No. 34 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.  The Jaguars traded him and a 2026 conditional seventh-round draft pick to the Minnesota Vikings last October, in exchange for a 2026 conditional fifth-round draft choice. Robinson went on to sign a one-year, $12 million contract ($10.75 million guaranteed) with Houston last offseason.

Pelissero elaborated on X: “This marks the second straight year that Cam Robinson has been traded midseason to a team that just lost a left tackle to injury. Last year, it was from the #Jaguars to the #Vikings. This year, it’s from the #Texans to the #Browns, who play Minnesota on Sunday in London.”

Robinson started the season opener for the Texans, who lost 14-9 against the Los Angeles Rams. Over the following two weeks he was inactive, with Houston benching him for rookie left tackle Aireontae Ersery.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz also reported: “Cam Robinson wants to play LT and he never really got a serious chance at doing that with the #Texans, especially with the organization preferring to go young at the position. The #Browns had a glaring need at LT and they make the trade for the respected veteran.”

ESPN’s Daniel Oyefusi added: “Cam Robinson has 102 start since entering the league in 2017. He’s almost exclusively been a LT and has graded out as a much better pass blocker than run blocker. Backups KT Leveston and Cornelius Lucas have graded out as two of the worst tackles in PBWR filling in for Dawand Jones and Jack Conklin.”

Robinson will make his first start for the Browns on Sunday, when Cleveland faces the Vikings in London (9:30 a.m. ET.).
